National Safety Month: A Shared Commitment, Every Day
Every June, National Safety Month gives us an opportunity to refocus on what matters most: health and safety at work are not occasional initiatives, they are a shared responsibility that must be embraced every day.
At Polygon, it is also an opportunity to recognize the meaningful, ongoing, and foundational work of our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) team. Their role goes far beyond overseeing processes. They help make safety a natural, effective, and sustainable part of our daily operations.
How Does Polygon Maintain Accident Frequency and Severity Rates Below Industry Averages?
Once again this year, our health and safety efforts are delivering positive results. Thanks to the commitment of our employees and our prevention initiatives, we have successfully maintained accident frequency and severity rates below industry averages.

We continue to invest in training, communication, and awareness programs to ensure our employees have the knowledge and tools they need to work safely. Throughout the year, a variety of activities, challenges, and contests are organized to encourage participation, promote best practices, and strengthen our culture of prevention.
For example, we distribute a monthly HSE newsletter to employees, followed by a quiz based on information contained in the newsletter. Participants are entered into a draw for gift cards, helping encourage engagement while reinforcing key health and safety messages.
Who Are the Members of Polygon's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Team?
A Dedicated Team at the Heart of Our Operations

The dedication, expertise, and collaboration of our HSE team directly contribute to the continuous improvement of our practices.
Their approach focuses on prevention, field presence, and supporting operational teams to strengthen health and safety best practices across the organization.
Why Does Every Employee Play a Role in Workplace Health and Safety?
It is important to remember that health and safety are not solely the responsibility of specialized roles.
Every employee is an integral part of our health and safety team because each person has a responsibility to themselves and to their colleagues.
What Principles Guide Polygon's Health and Safety Culture?
Our approach to health and safety is built on practical, long-term principles:
- Safety must be integrated into every stage of work planning and execution.
- Every individual has the right to work in a healthy and safe environment.
- Every employee has a responsibility to protect their own safety and the safety of others.
- Hazards must be identified, assessed, and controlled proactively.
- Continuous improvement is essential to maintaining effective and consistent practices.
In other words, safety is not separate from our operations. It is an integral part of them.
